Adorable festive DIY Santa napkin ring
Are you looking for some festive DIY Christmas crafts that are small, easy to make, and fun? These napkin rings are just that. I love the little Santa Claus motif that they bring to my dining table. Since they add a little bit of festive Christmas colors, they’re the perfect fun piece.
It doesn’t take much to assemble this festive Santa napkin ring craft. It uses some very simple craft supplies to make an adorable and practical Santa Claus piece to enjoy every year!
What can I use besides foam craft sheets?
This Santa napkin ring uses a type of craft foam that not everyone may have on hand. These are very useful as they add a little more structure to your napkin ring. And usually they either have a glittery finish or a glossy finish that adds texture to your piece.
However, there are other options. You can easily use construction paper with glitter or any other material as long as you use a backing. There’s nothing worse than a vehicle falling apart when you set it up! Experiment with different materials until you find something you like.
What should I use to make the belt?
One of the boldest features of this adorable Santa craft is its black leather belt! Well of course we’ll tinker it a little ourselves! In our craft we use a small black strip of glitter craft paper. This is certainly an option, but this is a part that is easily interchangeable.
Check out your craft supplies, and black construction paper, lace, or little strips might do the trick! You’d be surprised what you can dig up in the blink of an eye. Feel free to improvise where you can!
What are some fun ways to customize this craft?
Taken in itself, this is already a DIY Christmas craft that has a lot of its own shimmer and shimmer. That being said, there is always room to personalize something and make it your own. Take this Santa Claus napkin ring and add some personal details or decorations to keep people’s hearts warm!
One way to get a smile on your face and add a touch of joy is to add the initials of your dinner guests or family members! This is something to add to your Christmas tradition that they will always remember. Otherwise, you can use different materials or add charms wherever you see fit! Here are some of our ideas to inspire you.
- Use an intricate strip of lace or black faux gems to add extra sparkle to Santa’s belt
- Add a few cotton balls over the belt to mimic Santa’s iconic white beard
- Use black gems or dots for the buttons on his fun red suit
- Add family or friend’s initials on a piece of burlap that hangs from the side of his belt like a sack of toys
- Hide a piece of candy or mint with the napkin for a pleasant one ‘available’ from her Santa napkin ring
We’ll give you a more detailed step-by-step guide with pictures below. But first here’s what you need to do to get started!
Supplies are needed
Festive DIY Santa napkin ring
First, decide how long you want your napkin ring to be. If the cloth napkins you are using are bulky, consider a shorter length. If they’re narrower, you can use a longer ring so they don’t look out of place. Simply adjust the length of the napkin ring by further cutting the width of the foam board.
Next, you can bend the foam craft sheet into a cylindrical shape. Overlap the circumference by at least half an inch. Then use your hot glue gun to glue to the bottom of the foam board at the top where it will overlap.
Now you can apply the gems to Santa’s belt! Apply this to a strip of paper or fabric long enough to wrap the cylinder of foam construction paper. Put it as close to the center as possible. If you are working with loose craft stones, glue them on after you have placed the strip on the foam paper.
Next, you can use your hot glue gun to apply the white pipe cleaner to both ends of the napkin ring.
