We try hard to be a good photographer. We watch trainings, follow equipment, latest technologies, good photographers, and try to take pictures as much as we can. We attach great importance to the camera, the main elements of the machine and the photos we take, but we usually miss a point or not much: the memory cards we use. We entrust them with our after-effort photos and the information we have is almost zero. Most people don’t even know the brand or memory space of the memory card it uses. That’s why I have compiled important information about memory cards for you to know.
1. Brand is Important.
Do not listen to your teachers, brothers and friends who tell you that the brand is not important. “What difference does Sandisk or Lexar make?” Do not call. This is absolutely not true. There are serious differences in the production of the products. For example, Nikon and Sandisk took ideas from each other in the production of the product so that the camera can work in maximum compatibility with the memory card. 2 companies worked together for the memory card of Nikon’s legendary camera D90, we have seen the same thing in the production of D7000 series recently. Choose the right card by researching which memory card is closer to which machine.
2. High Speed Memory Card Usage
In humans, there is usually the perception that high-speed cards should only be used in video. This is also wrong. Because if you are actually shooting RAW and serial, it is very likely that you fill your card faster than the video. It can be HD or 4K high-dimensional. Believe me, RAW and serial shooting can reach much higher dimensions. So don’t mind those who say it to you, use a high speed card.
3.File Deletion Process
Never delete all the photos on your camera, format the card instead. DSLR or mirrorless cameras come with these 2 options: “Delete All Photos” and “Format Card”. Deleting files from the camera may cause the card to malfunction. Always format plus to ensure that the filing system and database are not corrupted.
4. File Deletion on Computer
Speaking of deleting all the files, never do that on the computer. It is a much more wrong choice than doing the same thing on the camera. Especially if Canon users continue to delete files from the computer, you may face the warning of ERR-99 (ERROR CODE: 99), which is the fearful dream of every Canon user. Of course, this is not the only reason for this error code, but keep in mind that this is mostly due to this process.
5. Be Sensitive to Your Cards
Although I never delete files from the camera or computer, I still encountered some problems. What happens to me the most is that we take a lot of shots and therefore we are not very sensitive to the card, such as breaking or scratching the cards, which can cause you to lose all the data. Failure to place it properly after use, throw it left or right, or use disproportionate force when removing it from the card reader can yield bad results. Especially if you are using SD card, I recommend you to use it carefully since the processing part or locking parts of the card will be very sensitive.
6. Says I Don’t Say Lexar.
According to the studies of Lexar company, the more the size of the memory card is, the faster the camera runs out of proportion. Of course there are no serious differences, but “Why is this over quickly now?” An important information that those who say should know.
7. File Recovery Operations
Both Lexar and Sandisk companies provide free file recovery software on their professional level cards, in case the files are accidentally lost. If you accidentally lose a photo, leave the shot there and install the software on your computer, and you will probably be able to bring back the lost file. (Even if you formatted it. It happened to me.) I did not look at the recovery process in Sandisk, but although I formatted it using Image Rescue Software in Lexar, I was able to retrieve the files.
8. Let’s say you couldn’t recover. What will happen now?
If you haven’t been able to recover the files despite using software, your card is likely to be corrupt. But you still don’t have to be afraid. Lexar and Sandisk companies take your card without any charge and upload the files to a DVD and send it back to you. This is really cool. It is especially important for people who make money from this business. I do not know what the situation with other brands, if any, please write below.
9. Memory Card Storage
Yes, the cards keep our photos. Our bags keep our machines. But where do we keep the tiny cards with the most important thing? Beginner friends, please go get a worst pencil case or sd card box if you have money. So many cards disappear and we cannot realize the value of what we lost, what we lost until it disappears.
